
What is the National Potato Levy?
The National Potato Levy is a levy payable on fresh and processed potatoes to provide funding for research and development on behalf of industry. The levy is payable on potatoess produced in Australia for either the domestic or export markets, and sold either by the producer, or used by the producer in the production of other goods. The current rate for the potato levy is 50 cents per tonne of fresh or processed potatoes.
What is the levy payable on?
The National Potato Levy is payable on fresh and processed potatoes produced and sold in Australia
Export charge is payable on unprocessed potatoes produced in and exported from Australia. If a levy has been paid on the potatoes prior to export, no export charge is payable.
