Understanding Climate Change Impacts in the Vegetable Industry: Opportunities and Risks

Climate change is going to impact on vegetable growing in your local region, knowing what these predicted impacts are, and how best to prepare your farm to deal with them, is valuable information for your business enterprise. Four workshops have been held in the locations listed below that provided growers with access to the latest research, tools and materials being developed to manage potential climate change opportunities and risks to the industry. Workbooks for each of these sessions are provided below. These workbooks provide an introduction to climate change, an overview of climate change predictions for various parts of Australia, and discussions about how growers can prepare for climate change on their farm. Other climate change resources and weblinks are provided in the EnviroVeg Information part of this site.

Four workshops were held in 2009:

16th October Wanneroo Tavern, Wanneroo, Western Australia [Click here for flyer]
23rd October Cowra Bowling Club, Cowra, New South Wales [Click here for flyer]
6th November Qld College of Wine Tourism, Stanthorpe, Queensland [Click here for flyer]  [Vietnamese Translation]
27th November Old Fire Station, Ulverstone, Tasmania [Click here for flyer]

Based on interest and demand more workshops on this important topic may be offered to growers in other parts of Australia in 2010.
