Privacy Statement
The privacy of your personal information is very important to AUSVEG. Although we are advised that the current privacy legislation does not apply, due to our small size, we are voluntarily implementing the provisions of the legislation (the National Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1998, Commonwealth).
We respect your right to privacy and only collect personal information that is important to improving the overall performance of the Australian vegetable industry on behalf of all vegetable growers.
Our Policy
1. Collecting your personal information
AUSVEG may collect your personal information for the purpose of communicating information about the vegetable industry, particularly the outcomes of research and development projects funded by the National Vegetable Levy and National Potato Levy.
The information collected may include name, address, phone number, fax number and what type of crops you usually grow or any other information considered necessary for the purpose of communication.
We will, if it is reasonable and practicable to do so, collect your personal information from you. This may happen when you register to the AUSVEG website, phone us or ask your state association or Industry Development Officer for information on the vegetable industry.
In certain cases we collect your personal information from third parties. For example if you have given your details to your state association or IDO they may pass them to AUSVEG so that you can receive important information on the vegetable industry or from local yellow pages.
2. Using and disclosing your personal information
AUSVEG will use your personal information to communicate information about the vegetable industry, particularly the outcomes of research and development projects funded by the National Vegetable Levy and National Potato Levy.
We assume we have your consent to use service providers to assist us with this (such as posting service or public relations or graphic design agency) unless you tell us otherwise.
3. Keeping your personal information accurate and up-to-date.
We aim to keep your personal information we collect, use or disclose as accurate as possible. This will ensure you have the latest information on the vegetable industry at your finger tips.

4. Protecting your personal information
We store your personal information predominantly in electronic format. We take protecting your privacy seriously and have taken reasonable steps to protect it from misuse and unauthorised access.
We also take extra care when you give us personal information through our website. We have electronic security systems in place, such as firewalls. And we also have user identifiers and passwords to control access to private information on our website.
5. Your sensitive information
Without your consent we will not collection information about you that reveals your racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs or affiliations, memberships of a professional or trade association, membership of a trade union, details of health, disability, sexual orientation or criminal record.
This is subject to some exceptions, including: the collection is required by law or when the information is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of a legal claim.
