Pattypan Squash are part of the Courgette and Squash family of vegetables. These little, bumpy-skinned, round vegetables come in a range of colours, the most common yellow or pale green.
They are quick and easy to cook, can be sliced and grilled or steamed whole. Be careful not to overcook, as they can quickly become mushy and lose their unique flavour. A popular Mediterranean way of eating them is to slice thinly, cover in a light batter and shallow fry in olive oil.
